Getting some arrows downrange
Well, you may recall that I currently shoot Ben Pearson bows exclusively – I have an older Diamondback VX that I love, and a Ben Pearson Pride that I am getting used to. The Pride was finished up last year, thanks to the efforts of Adam Guggisberg of ProBowTune Services, and some very much appreciated support from Vital Gear, Alpine Archery, and Trophy Taker.
I am very happy with the stabilizer and quiver from Alpine. The TrophyTaker rest works like a charm. I really, really like the single-pin sight from VitalGear. When I had left off last season, I was having an issue with something in that my groupings were OK, but I had run out of right to left travel on my sight, and I still had a little to go. I didn’t want to mess with the rest, since Adam had it dialed in. I contacted Adam and he asked about my anchor, and referred me to his online archery lessons. A bit skeptical, I went to the section on anchoring. I need to say again, these online lessons are AWESOME. If you want to improve your shooting, you need to give them a try. Adam will give you a free temporary password, so you can go in an poke around.
So, I dug the bow out tonight, along with my target and a few arrows. I am happy to report that although I still don’t have much left-right adjustment left, I changed my anchor point/technique per Adam’s lessons and voila – I am back shooting where I aim. He helped me shift my groups about 4-5″ back to the left.
Stay tuned – maybe, just maybe I’ll draw blood this year.
