Arizona bowhunters are under attack
Once again, Arizona bowhunters are being attacked for their hunting seasons. But the scrutiny isn’t coming from anti hunters, it is from the Az Game and Fish Department.
The game and fish department is recommending shortening and even elimination of archery deer hunting seasons depending on bowhunters’ success. If any unit reports a 20% success, the department will recommend closing, shortening, and/or require permits through the draw process for that particular unit.
The following is directly from their website, www.azgfd.com
There are public meetings starting this week, which can be found on the website, and also, there is an email address, where they are accepting comments.

C. Archery hunt opportunity in a unit will be offered according to the table below. Archery deer harvest will be managed not to exceed 20% of the overall harvest in a unit. When archery deer harvest meets or exceeds 20% of overall harvest, the Wildlife Manager will recommend reductions in archery hunt opportunity according to the following prescriptions, to include permitting harvest. Permitted harvest once prescribed will be managed to meet demand by weapon type.

This is yet another unfounded and relentless attack against Arizona archers. The AZG&FD possess no accurate deer harvest data to do as they propose. Unless you know the unknown, 2 + n = 2n. Until they do mandatory harvest reporting across-the-board for all deer seasons, they simply don’t know the unknown. So how in the heck are they going to do the hunt structures correctly? Idiotic junk science at it’s finest. Grrrr.
Garth: Our old friend Walt would’a been all over this….
whats going on is some young punk freash out of college making disccisions about my state’s game when that person or persons havnt even been off the asfalt and concrete to know what and the hell he or she is talking about b!^% s*^+
the az game and fish are morons, why the hell would they get rid of archery deer hunting it’s just about the only tag you can get in this state becalse they have the draw so screwed up. and who is making these discions, pobaly some pencil pusher who has never seen a deer much less known the joy of hunting one.and whats with the whole 20% crap, so us archery hunters can only fill 20% of overall harvest leaving the other 80% for the rifle hunters. you know why more tags go to rifle hunting, it’s becalse they get more money for the rifle tags, and the money grubing game and fish need that money to pay off there nice new ofice over by ben avery.
I’m still reeling after hearing about all this bullazgfd. I can’t believe those azgfdsuckers would azgfd us bowhunters right up the azgfd like that. What a bunch of lowlife, four-flushing azgfdheads. Azgfding azgfdholes, I bet the other comments are right about them screwing us over for more money and the decisions being made by some wet-behind-the-ears azgfdbag. What a total crock of agfd. Makes me really want to get the azgfd out of this azgfded state.

Excellent article. I believe that if more people tried bow hunting, they would be surprised how much fun this can be. I invite you and your readers to visit my new site, Silent Draw Outdoors. This is a new breed of hunting and outdoor adventure. Watch bow archery hunting videos of big game in North America.
